Repeat Prescriptions

thepill Repeat prescriptions are issued at the doctor's discretion and are for patients who are on long-term treatment. Requests for repeats can be made in any one of the following ways:

  • Fill in the tear-off strip on your prescription and deliver it to the surgery.
  • Fill in a prescription request form in the surgery.
  • Fax a completed prescription request to 01442 879909.
  • Order using our own on-line service (see link above).

It takes 2 working days from the time of the request to arrange a repeat prescription, it can then either be picked up from the surgery during normal opening hours, or we can have it delivered to any of the chemists in town. All you need to do is specify your preferred chemist when making your request.

Please ensure you plan ahead and remember it takes 2 working days from the time of request to arrange a repeat prescription and always ensure you have enough medication to last for weekends and periods of holidays.

NB: We cannot accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone directly to the surgery, but we have introduced the services of a 3rd party service provider Pharmacy-2-U (this is not option 4 above). This service provides delivery of the medicines directly to your home or workplace and Pharmacy-2-U will also accept telephone or e-mail requests for repeat medication. Please ask at reception for details.

Please note that in line with Government policy this practice has a Generic Prescribing Policy. This means that when requesting medication prescribed by a hospital or a specialist, we will always ensure that you get the same medication, though the presentation (trade name or colour of the tablet/capsule) might be different.
