Out-of-Hours Cover
If outside of normal hours you need urgent advice or an urgent visit from a doctor, you can contact HUC (Herts Urgent Care), the out-of-hours provider, by ringing the surgery on 01442 863119 where you will be transferred automatically, or you can phone HUC direct on 03000 333 333.
They will take full details and refer your information to the doctor on call, who will return your call and give telephone advice or, if necessary, arrange to see you at the emergency centre at Hemel Hempstead or Watford, or visit you at home.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
West Herts PCT has now overall responsibility for all out-of-hours cover.
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
